German Shepherd Dog - Kimi - Large - Adult - Female - Dog
Before she came to Rescue, Kimi's life wasn't a happy life. She was neglected and living in the home of a hoarder. After arriving at Rescue, she was invited to stay in a foster home so she's one happy girl whom her foster mom describes as super sweet. In her foster home, Kimi lives with seven other dogs who range in size from a 100 pound German Shepherd Dog to a ten pound cockapoo/terrier mix. There are also two resident cats. Kimi will ignore the cats when she is on her own but if any of the other dogs decides it is time to play a game of chase, Kimi will enjoy the game as well. These are foxy felines because they know that if they stop running, the dog, including Kimi, will also stop running. Kimi's foster mom wants everyone to know though that introductions of "new fosters" to the pack of dogs and the two cats are done very slowly to increase the likelihood of success. What else do we know about Kimi? She knows some basic commands such as sit, stay, and back (from the door). She'll sit patiently to wait for her food bowl to be placed in front of her (each dog has his or her own feeding station and Kimi will not venture into those spaces while there is food in the bowl). Kimi is housebroken and trustworthy. She shows no interest in chewing on anything other than one of the many Nylabones lying around the house. If you like to use a treadmill to keep in shape, you may have to share it with Kimi because she is treadmill trained! Kimi isn't a big fan of chaos and crazy behavior whether it is generated by children (Kimi needs to live in a home without children) or the resident dogs. Evie, the ten pound resident canine, knows when Kimi's behavior requires the calming influence that Evie can bring. That's the power of a gentle lick on the face!
