My story
ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to  and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Joel is a quiet 4yo teeny tiny 5 lb Dachshund-Chihuahua mix, and he might also have some Miniature Pinscher in his family tree. He is an introvert--timid and apprehensive at first--but he warms up as he learns to trust, and then he adores you.  Joel will follow you around "Right Behind you", so if you can't find him...turn around quick! He gets sooo excited when you get home, and you find out that he does have a tail after all, just a very short one.    Joel would do best in a quiet, adult-only home with an abundance of patience and love, and little dog beds in every room.  He is fearful of new situations, so a nice very predictable low-key home would be just perfect.  Older kids might be okay, but he is too tiny and apprehensive for young kids and active families.  He is always up for a spot on on the sofa for movie night. He has learned to use potty pads and also to do his business outside.  Joel walks well on a leash, but it is clear that he feels safer in someone's arms and will stand in front of you with his back to you if he wants to be picked up.  He has the occasional skip in his walk due to luxating patellas .  He likes to sleep at the foot of your bed under his blanket, but could also be okay sleeping in a warm snuggle bed on the floor.  This little boy gets cold easy, and really does appreciate coats and pajamas, especially in the winter. We think he might be good with another little and very easy-going and not-pushy dog who can be his buddy and mentor. Even your average small dog is really big to Joel.  Joel is right-sized for an apartment or condo, and will sneak up on you for attention, and reward your patience in earning his trust by stealing your heart.  Joel is neutered, up-to-date on shots, micro-chipped, and his adoption fee is $250. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to   and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.
