1977 Airstream Argosy 20 Foot Class A Motorhome,454,HIGHLY POLISHED,RARE in San Diego, California

People absolutely love this Vintage Airstream and you will too. It just makes everybody smile.

You cannot go anywhere without many, many people wanting to take pictures with it.

It is a very rare 1977 Argosy by Airstream 20 foot motorhome.

They were only produced from 1974 to 1978 and were Airstream's first venture into the motorhome market.

They were called the painted Airstreams but are identical to the polished model trailers and RVs with their all aluminum, aircraft quality construction (except for the steel end caps on the roof} that is the best around.

You never have to worry about roof leaks like on normal campers.

Obviously, this one has been stripped of it's original paint and highly polished for that Classic Airstream look! It is not a cheap or easy process to have them polished. If you tried to replicate this one by having somebody polish your Argosy for you, it would cost you $10,000 minimum. Any Argosy is rare but the 20 footers are almost impossible to find.

They only produced about 200 of them total and they are the smallest Class A Airstream ever made.

Even among those 200, this one is even more rare because it is probably one of the most eye-catching examples left on the planet.

It is extremely easy to drive, can park in a normal parking space, you can even make a U-turn at a stoplight! Walking into this RV is like walking into a light and bright home. It has plenty of light with all of the windows and sun shades. If you want the Vanlife but are tired of cracking your head on low ceilings, having little room for anything, and having to take a shower outside while parked next to the 8000 other generic Sprinter Vans anywhere you go, you will realize how advanced Airstream was in the planning of these.

You can stand up straight with plenty of extra head room, sit on your full size couch that folds into a bed and take a shower in the bathroom in the back that also has the toilet and sink.

Dometic refrigerator/freezer, three burner stovetop w/overhead fan, oven, two pot sink, Onan generator, new roof air conditioning, dash AC (currently non-functional), power steering, power brakes.

It has plenty of closet storage and even more storage above the couch area with roll up Tambour doors. The Argosy is built on a Chevrolet P-30 one ton full size truck chassis so any mechanical parts are easily found and readily available at any local auto parts store.

It is powered by a 454 cubic inch Big Block Chevy V-8 mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. The Argosy runs and drives well.

It is very smooth and strong. The odometer shows around 90k miles but the engine was rebuilt and has much fewer. All six tires are newer and have low miles.

Alcoa look wheel liners.I have owned quite a few of these 20 foot models over the years. I had planned on this one being my final one and building the ultimate Airstream equipped with extremely high end retro looking interior, modern appliances, modern lighting, modern electronics, etc. That WAS the plan. My interior guy just informed me that he is retiring almost immediately so I will have to build one at a later time when I find somebody else I trust to work on it. The interior is plenty usable as it sits but it does need some carpet up front near the engine cover, as well as a check of all of the interior systems before going on any long trips. I have not used it for anything except beach trips so I have not needed to use any of them. This is a steal for a one of a kind Airstream that can be enjoyed like it is or easily taken to the next level. If you have the skill to do some of the interior yourself, you could make this rig the only one like it in the world for a very reasonable amount of money. Clean, clear title in hand. This Airstream is a Creative Mind's dream.I am located in San Diego.
